New Year, New Projects
We've had a very busy New Year here at The Cornish House, with lots of furniture on the go and some very exciting interiors projects on the horizon.
Just before Christmas, I was contacted by a client who wanted our help with a make-over of her coastal beach house here in Cornwall.
I enjoy all of our design projects but I especially enjoy working here in Cornwall where my inspiration is in full flow.
It felt a little weird putting together some coastal inspired concept boards together slap bang in the middle of Christmas when everything is twinkling and indulgent, but none the less, I got to work and pulled a number of ideas together for our client to mull over.
The brief: paired-back, neutral, beachy but not over the top, and most importantly - a place of tranquillity and relaxation.
As a number of my clients don't live in the county full-time, sharing ideas and concept boards can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. As such, I tend to compile a mixture of electronic boards and what I call 'living boards', that incorporate the textural elements of the project, and include drawings, room plans and elevations etc.
Understandably, not all of my clients want their interior projects shared so, with their permission, I've put together some abbreviated highlights of the final schemes we came up with, starting with the sitting room.
Lots of natural and neutral colour tones in order to make the most of the beautiful coastal setting, complimented with multiple textures such as rattan, seagrass, sisal, clear and coloured glass, driftwood, stripes, linens, herringbone, wood artwork and panelled feature wall.
A beautifully tranquil space and the perfect coastal retreat.
